Gutenberg! The Musical! is a Tony nominated musical written by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Writing partners Bud and Doug have written a musical about unsung historical figure Johannes Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press. They are here to present their new work to potential producers and get their show all the way to Broadway!
Role to be cast:
Doug Simon-An innocent. Naive, utterly sincere, and earnest, Doug never met a cause he wasn’t passionate about. He’s a jack of all trades, master of none, who compensates with an infectious, matter-of-fact energy and focus that would sound condescending if he weren’t so guileless and likeable. He’s incredibly proud of the show he wrote with Bud, and thinks Bud, whom he adores, is a genius. In the presentation Doug plays Gutenberg as well as several other roles.
The role of Bud has already been cast.
Please come prepared with a song of your choice, preferably 1-2 minutes. There will also be cold readings from the script.
Also note that callbacks will be taking place the same evening, so you may be asked to come back or stay for those. If you are unable to stay for callbacks please inform us upon your arrival so we can make sure you get seen if a callback is needed. We look forward to seeing you there!
